Ben's been gone and Peter's recovering from being sick...so we've just laid low. It's much better to have a baby when your husband has to be gone than to be alone. Not half as lonely, and it's nice to be so mellow with nowhere to go and nothing to do. I love just staring at each other, it's official, we're in love. At night I watched snippets of lots of movies. Something I learned from Cath, watching movies in fast forward. The good parts you just watch, but you skip all the rest. So I watched some Bollywood, HSM, Heidi, The Little Princess, A Little Princess (I know it's sad to say but I prefer this one), The Shop Around the Corner (which was not what I was hoping it would be), it's been great. I never watch these kinds of movies with Ben. But if it's just me I can do my laundry and make my bed all while watching these chick flicks. It might sound like I watched movies non-stop, but watching in fast forward can make 3 movies happen during time of one.
Now Peter is feeling so much better and finally slept through the night again last night, which means only one thing: Hebgen. Our trip was delayed when he got sick, but now we are back in the race. I can't wait to be with my family, especially because Ben will be gone for a while longer.
I know all I do is upload videos lately, but I have people who need to see them. Isn't that great? Also, I hope it wasn't confusing about the giveaway, it was on the site that I linked, not on my blog. Someday I'll have a giveaway here. Anyway, this is a video of Peter in between tubes. (p.s. check out his heart beating...I just can't get over how amazing that is.)

Here are some pics before we were in the hospital, Peter's getting hair! Ben won't let me do the mohawk, but it was actually just like that after his bath. The other thing that is fun is the jumper, he just barely got the hang of it a few weeks ago. I love watching him bounce. He hasn't been able to keep his food down lately so he hasn't been able to do it, but he'll get there.Lainey is so fun, she always lets me do her hair in crazy ways, this is flapper with a Bollywood flair, of course!
And finally a few more movies of Peter jumping for my long lost sis in San Fran. Waah I wish you were here. No offense B.

David and I were doing the dishes on Father's Day and listening to Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. I recently watched Out of Africa, which I love, and there is a line in one of Karen's stories "...like Scheherazade herself." I asked Dave what that meant, and he reminded me of the story of the Persian queen that told stories to save her life. My mom had taught it to him years ago in music appreciation. Such a beautiful tale. I want to be a good story-teller. Reminds me of a beautiful piece Cath is working on about Peter. She wrote:
"Years from now, Peter won’t remember his birth or his journey to health: he will hear about the months in the hospital and the thousands of prayers as he lays in bed with his hands linked easy behind his head, dirt under his fingernails and traces of chocolate around his mouth. He will ask for a story, his story, eager to avoid lights out and sweet dreams, and Jane will smile and tell him again how his body worked to live, how he finally started to laugh, and how his healing was her healing."
It truly has been my healing, I love that line. Peter was actually back in the hospital last week, just for a few days. He was discharged Sunday, Happy Father's Day to Ben. Then on Monday, my birthday, we spent most of the day at the doctors and then at Primary's again for more tests. Peter stumps them all again! We have no idea what he has/had. He's on the mend though, starting to smile and play again.
It was quite a new experience to have a birthday with a child. I'm used to a month long birthday celebration, with lines like, "but it's my birthday in two weeks," or "but it was my birthday last week." I love my birthday. This year, however, was so strange having spent the days prior in the hospital, I didn't countdown to my birthday, and when Ben wished me a happy birthday on the morning of my day, I was surprised to remember that it actually was my birthday. I had almost forgotten! Then with almost no fun and no celebration, not to mention a lot of sad tests on my little baby, Ben was worried that I would be pretty bummed that my birthday was so lame. The strangest part of all is that I didn't care. Peter has consumed everything, my time, my love and my life. What better way to celebrate the day of my birth, than to take care of the one whose birth makes my life. Here is a little video of him in the hospital.

Free Tickets
I have tickets to tour the LDS temple near my house in Daybreak. Anyone interested just send me an email. You can just take the tickets or I'll come with you. For those who don't have my email, now that the blog is privado I can put whatever I want, right? janedurham@gmail.com
You don't have to be a member of the church to go inside, and it's very beautiful and interesting to see. I hope some of you will take me up on the offer. They open the doors to the community before they actually start to perform temple work and ordinances there. In August (I think) they will dedicate it and then only members with a recommend can enter. You can also get tickets here.

We finally got Peter up to Hebgen for his first time last weekend. A little family time was really nice, not to mention just being there, just driving there. The first drive of the season is always kind of special, even though Peter wasn't such a good traveler. It was like driving through the "Storms" IMAX the whole way up. There really isn't such a movie, but there should be, it's always been one of my favorite pastimes, watching storms roll in and out. The weekend wasn't any different, pretty stormy and cold, but great all the same. We woke up on Sunday to Christmas Morning, 2 inches of snow! I wish I'd taken a picture, it was gorgeous. I've seen snow in June there before, maybe twice, but not like this. Here are my two favorite pictures of the trip:
